시알리스는?

시알리스의 원개발사는 일라이 릴리로 지난 2014년 5월 사노피에 시알리스이 특허권이 만료된 이후 사용할 수 있는 시알리스 OTC 버전의 판권을 일부 매각한 바 있다.

당시 사노피 경영진은 OTC 버전의 시알리스가 2024년부터 컨슈머헬스 사업 성장에 크게 도움이 될 것으로 분석한 바 있다.

당시 계약에 따라 사노피는 미국, 유럽, 캐나다, 호주 시장에서의 시알리스 OTC에 대한 독점판권을 확보했으며 지난 2020년 시알리의 특허가 만료됨에 따라 OTC 전환작업에 착수한 것으로 알려졌다.

양사의 라이센스 계약의 구체적인 조건은 공개되지 않았다.한편,

현재 미국에서 판매되고 있는 OTC 버전의 발기부전 치료제는 전무한 상황이다.

다만 영국 등 일부 시장에서는 화이자가 발기부전 치료제인 '비아그라'를 의사의 처방 없이 사용할 수 있는 OTC 버전 제품인 비아그라 커넥트(Viagra Connect)로 판매하고 있다.

비아그라 커넥트의 미국 발매 일정은 아직 확정되지 않았다.

시장조사기관힌 코히런트마켓인사이트(Coherant Market Insights)에 따르면 전 세계 발기부전 치료 시장의 규모는 작년에 약 37억 달러였으며 2028년까지 59억 달러 규모로 성장할 것으로 전망하고 있다.
